Favorite Apple Books for Kids

There’s something special about apple season! These are some of my favorite apple books for young children and the ones I love reaching for during our fall apple studies.

  • Apples, Apples, Apples by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace — A wonderful introduction to apples and perfect for kicking off an apple investigation.

  • The Apple Orchard Riddle by Margaret McNamara — A fun orchard story that encourages children to look closely and make observations.

  • Bad Apple by Edward Hemingway — A sweet story about friendship and kindness.

  • The Seasons of Arnold’s Apple Tree by Gail Gibbons — Perfect for exploring seasons, apple trees, and the apple life cycle.

  • Applesauce Day by Lisa J. Amstutz — A cozy story about apples, family, and making applesauce.

  • The Biggest Apple Ever by Steven Kroll — Great for incorporating math, comparing, and measurement.

  • Apples by Gail Gibbons — A great nonfiction choice for learning apple facts and how apples grow.

  • Hello! My Name Is... Apple — A colorful introduction to the apple life cycle.

  • Apples, Apples Everywhere! — A fun look at the apple harvest.

I love using these books as a starting point for hands-on learning. After reading, children can investigate real apples, learn the parts of an apple, explore the life cycle, practice measuring, and create apple crafts.
